04.27.03 - 4:49 a.m. - are you keeping it real? are you?

there was a party at holly's house. i'm kind of envious of how her mom is so cool. she's mom-esque when she bakes cookies and then floors it into cool-mom mode when she reads people's palms.

so like, i asked holly if sylvia's friends could come too and she said yes. and then sylvia & co. packt into her sweet ride and went slumming .... slumming? with us. at least, that's what holly said by the time the night was through. holly was made unhappy by this.

i mean, i didn't even know what slumming was until dokko told me something about the "cool" white kids in the 1920s hanging out in Harlem. then again, it's hard to picture holly as anything really that reminiscient of Harlem, so i guess it isn't about finding the right historical metaphor so much as seeing the coolness in how it sort of fits. after all, nothing's going to fit perfectly.

man, i don't even know how to explain it. but there was definitely a schism. maybe it's because we're kinda Cat Power and they're more Gravy Train!!!.

anyhow, i think it was more of a case of holly thinking stacey's a bitch than anything else.

i am probably a dork for writing in my Internet Diary mere hours after the party, but i got to be me. it's all a part of my grand scheme of keeping it real. all of it.
